I have been an on/off member of GPEW for over 20 years. I have also been a member of Green Party Women (GPW) for several years.
Whilst in the party my focus was mainly on supporting and working hard in my local party to protect my local environment. I have also been a candidate in local elections. However, like many others, I got increasingly concerned about what the national party was up to in the wake of the Challenor scandal and:
- bonkers policies that deny biological science being voted in by less than 0.5% of the membership
- a disregard for women’s concerns and safe guarding
- and a general shift away from the party’s ecological foundations.
My concerns were proven to be warranted.
Over the last few years I have witnessed a number of people being targeted by factions in GPEW. This targeting has included physical violence towards women at conference and the escalation of suspensions and expulsions of anyone who speaks out about:
- sexism
- bad governance
- bad faith actors
- or anything else in the party that the faction has decided is de rigueur for the day.
Despite this, I decided to stand for and was voted onto the GPW Committee earlier this year. GPW had just been reaffiliated, having been inappropriately closed down for many months previously. I was elected, as were other committee members on a sex realist ticket. I was hoping to do something positive for our female members and women in general. Almost immediately low level threats from the bullies started to appear on GPEW Green Spaces and elsewhere towards the new committee. Myself and other committee members have also been cyberstalked on Green Spaces and on social media.
I was voted by my fellow committee members, along with my job share, to become a Co-chair of GPW following the suspension of Jude English, the 4th co-chair of GPW to be suspended.
“I was expelled on July 16 because I was deemed to have broken 4.7 of the Constitution. One of my cyberstalkers was struggling to find anything legal to expel me over (obviously legal protection for gender critical members is finally sinking in) so, they claimed a different X account to my own was mine. That account Xweeted in support of Alison Teal and the Kangaroo Court that is GPRC agreed to expel me 8 to 1 despite having no real evidence. The only factual things in that complaint were my name and the name of my then local party – the rest was fiction in someone’s deluded head.”
This decision to expel me was apparently made on July 4. The party waited 12 days to inform me. They chose the day I was due to go on the radio to talk about the #50’sWomen CEDAWinLAW campaign on behalf of GPW. I had also raised concerns internally in the party about data protection, or rather lack of protection which I was awaiting a reponse to. I don’t believe in coincidences – when they disaffiliated GPW in 2023, they did it just as they were about to hold a WASPI webinar as part of that year’s committee campaigns. Similarly many of the exiles on this website are whistleblowers.
They really don’t like women or whistleblowers, and it shows.
Along with other ‘exiles‘ who have been treated unlawfully I am considering joining a multi litigant action for breach of contract.
Editor’s note:
Amanda Stones was the fifth Co chair of Green Party Women to be subjected to the Green Party disciplinary process. There are five in total so far.
