Exile Nathan Williams

Exile Nathan Williams smiling

I was first involved with the party as a student and recently stood as the GPEW candidate for the local council.

My first brush with trouble was when I supported a motion in my local party calling for tolerance and empathy around the subject of gender. For this I was placed under a disciplinary investigation. Later, in my role as a freelance journalist I published an article about legal guidance that the party had received giving advice on how to comply with the Equality Act 2010 – which included a link to the document.

Despite the fact that I had alerted the press office beforehand (and received no request to take down the document) I was expelled permanently from the party – the most extreme sanction possible.

In all my dealings with party members I have always been polite and respectful. My aim has always been to uphold the green values of mutual respect and open rational dialogue. It seems those values are alien to the Green Party today.

Read the article that got me expelled.
