Green Party Eastern Region is holding an election for a Regional Council Representative (who must be a man or non-binary person). Nominations close at 23:59 on Thursday 19 September 2024.
The election arises due to the current rep, Ben Foley, being up for re-election.
“Green Party members in the Eastern Region may be interested to know that it was Ben Foley who put in an official complaint in July this year, which resulted in the no-fault suspension of Dr Pallavi Devulapalli, who is the party’s national health spokesperson and a doctor in the Eastern Region. “

The election is important because Green Party Regional Council (GPRC) is entrusted with the well-being of the party and is the sole body that can place members on no-fault suspension (NFS). The stories about how it has been suspending members who speak out about basic biological reality, and targeting other members arbitrarily for other reasons, can be found on our meet-the-exiles page as well as at gcgreens.uk/suspended-expelled-resigned.
Pallavi’s case and the other Exiles’ cases need to be seen against the background of the party’s democratic deficit and governance problem – as demonstrated by the legal costs order last week in Ali vs GPEW, where the party was found to have discriminated against former deputy leader Dr Shahrar Ali, and must now pay £90,000 to him as well as bear its own legal costs, which are likely to be far higher.
Look out for further news about GPRC elections in other regions in due course.
