Green Party Conference 2024 Summary

Greens in Exile gain momentum at Green Party conference in Manchester

Before the Green Party of England and Wales conference 2024 at Manchester Central we put out a press release about our protest where Jude English of Greens in Exile and a former Bristol City Councillor said:

“We want Greens to come and talk to us outside Conference – as we’re not allowed in”

And come and talk to us they did!

Throughout the weekend the Greens in Exile protest was highly visible, outside the front entrance to Conference. Long-time and new membersof the Green Party listened to our message and were concerned to learn how the complaints system in the party has been abused, resulting in multiple suspensions and expulsions.

Many ex-Labour members who have recently joined the party were also shocked to discover that the utopia of no whip and a non-draconian disciplinary system they had been promised wasn’t worth the paper or digital platform it had been written on. One was reported as only being in Conference for couple of hours before realising there were problems. That was before they had even spoken to the Greens in Exile.

Many long-time members also told us directly that they support what we are doing to try and get the reform the Green Party desperately needs.

A surprise visit

Greens in Exile were delighted that Green Party Co leader Adrian Ramsay also took the time out of his very busy conference schedule to come and talk to us and we welcome his support for Dr Pallavi Devulapalli who was unjustly put on a no fault suspension just two days before conference.
